LANMAN 2007 Trip
Tuesday June 12, after our last panel session, the
LANMAN Workshop is planning a trip to
the Grounds For Sculpture
in Hamilton New Jersey. We will embark from the Hotel around 5:15pm and enter
the Grounds through a special entrance of the elegant
which adjoins the Grounds. LANMAN
attendees will be allowed to tour the grounds at their leisure. Afterwards, they
may gather at the Rat's
Restaurant for cocktails or continue to tour the grounds. We will be
served a catered dinner around 7pm. We will return to the hotel around 9:30pm.
The Grounds For Sculpture, a 35-acre sculpture park and museum, has captivated visitors since 1992, and has only gained in popularity as more of the public discovers its tranquil setting and engaging sculpture. Besides the beautiful garden themes, the Indoor Exhibitions of emerging and well-known artists are shown throughout the year in two expansive, glass-walled buildings that were once exhibit halls for the New Jersey State Fair. Over 240 contemporary sculptures, from monumental to smaller scale, can be found on the beautifully landscaped grounds. Grounds For Sculpture also offers gardens, water features, an exciting restaurant—Rat’s, a Café, Museum Shop, Toad Hall Shop & Gallery, and a seasonally-open Gazebo Café for visitors. Special events and educational programs are scheduled throughout the year offering music and entertainment, lectures, hands-on art workshops, tours, and more.
Rat`s is the whimsical restaurant, founded by J. Seward Johnson Jr. and located at the world renowned arts center, Grounds For Sculpture. Rat's envelops guests in an elegant, country chateau with rustic fireplaces, eclectic cuisine, an impressive wine list and warm, attentive service. Guests quickly feel at home in any of Rat's five dining rooms or upstairs piano lounge. Most rooms feature unforgettable views of Grounds For Sculpture's lush landscape and contemporary sculptures.
